Liepzig
Leipzig or Leipzish as the locals pronounce it, is easily accessible by train and road from Berlin Brandenburg Airport and Frankfurt, there is a local airport but there is no direct service from the UK.
Leipzig is the largest city in Saxony and the 8th largest city in Germany, with a history dating back to 1015, though it really started to come to prominence in 1165 as a major trading centre. Trade Fairs played a major part in making Liepzig one of the richest cities in Germany. Located at a crossroads from East to West and North to South, they grew and became very cosmopolitan. This led to the opening of one of the oldest universities in Germany.
As a MICE venue it is a perfectly scalable destination, with a range of versatile venues of all types – from a traditional wine cellar restaurant celebrating its 500th anniversary, the Auerbachs Keller which is mentioned in Faust, to the space-age elegance of the Porsche Conference Centre / factory and Test Centre, where you can race cars on the track, and tour the amazing Porsche factory.
The Porsche Centre has a state of the are conference centre and theatre for presentation, for a great mix of racing adrenalin and learning.
The Leipzig Congress Centre is a historic building, unusually celebrating a mix of both original Art-Nouveau and Art-Deco rooms cleverly integrated with state of the art AV technology.
Next door is Leipzig Zoo which also has a variety of rooms which can be used for meetings and conferences (we have all been at meetings that feel like a zoo 😊). Safari themed restaurants can be privatised, offering a view of zebra’s and giraffes on the savanna right in the centre of the city.
A wide range of hotels means that Leipzig is suitable for all budgets. So, forget the “Been There – Done That!” destinations. Have a look at Leipzig!
