There are not many properties in the world that can boast Napoleon III, Frank Sinatra, Charlie Chaplin and Ernest Hemingway – not to mention members of pretty much every Royal House of Europe among its guests. But then the Hotel Du Palais is a special hotel.
Sitting on a golden beach in southern France, only 40 minutes from Spain, and at the foot of the Pyrenees, Biarritz is a paradise for surfers and foodies alike and the Hotel du Palais is the crown jewel of this Atlantic resort.
Built in 1854 as a summer residence for the wife of Napoleon III, the Impress Eugenie (initial of the building shape from above) the Palais became famous as a meeting place for royalty. After a short period as a casino at the turn of the century the building was damaged by fire and in 1903 reopened as one of the most luxurious hotels in Europe, part of the prestigious designation “Palaces de France”, catering not only to the ancient royal houses of Europe but also to the increasingly rich and powerful new global elites from Hollywood.
Following a recent 4 year renovation the Hotel Du Palais has reopened in June 2022 as part the Hyatt family and is once again the jewel of the Atlantic coast.
Perfect for holidays, luxury pamper weekends, board meeting get-aways or conferences. The Hotel Du Palais should be on everyone’s “must visit” list.
